In addition to his accomplishments as a performing artist, Darren has extensive experience as a clinician and educator. Universities across the nation have hosted him for workshops, clinics, festivals, and concerts. In 1995, Darren began an apprenticeship with master steel drum pioneer Ellie Mannette. He worked as a primary tuner for the University Tuning Project and with Mannette Steel Drums through 2002. He has performed with notable musicians including Boogsie Sharpe, Ray Holman, Ken "Professor" Philmore, Robert Greenidge, Andy Narell, Jeff Narell, David Rudder, Alex Acuña, Tom Miller and Pan Ramajay. In 2000, Darren was invited to perform with the Solo Pan Knights and the Invaders Steel Orchestra at Panorama in Trinidad. Darren Dyke's versatility and comprehensive knowledge of steel pans have made him much sought-after as a musician and tuner throughout the U.S. and abroad. Darren currently lives and works in Austin, Texas. Darren was again in Paris in 2003 to tune instruments before the recording of Andy Narell and Calypsociation's new CD to be released in the spring of 2004. He was selected as the principal tuner for the Parisian orchestra Calypsociation during their preparation and performance at the 2002 European Steel Band Festival held in Sète, France.
